Oilfield Chemical Technology Ltd is an independent consultancy that has provided specialist services to the oil and gas industries for more than 30 years. Our main business activities include the measurement, interpretation and prediction of fluid behaviour, testing and recommendation of drilling fluids, completion fluids, production and process chemicals, as well as the provision of consultancy services.

In 2019, OCTL closed its headquarters in Aberdeen and transferred its base to its facility in Wareham, Dorset, from where we continue to provide our services to an impressive client list of international companies and attract new business every year - click the Major Contractors icon/button to download a comprehensive list of our worldwide clients and projects.

Thanks to our proven expertise in production optimisation we are able to support and represent field management teams at every stage of chemical selection and purchasing process. Our in-house laboratories employ bespoke technology to provide vital flow assurance data and sample analysis services to support our experienced team of chemical engineers.

OCTL Managing Director David Brankling is a Chartered Chemist and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He started the company in 1988, after 10 years in the oil industry gathering experience in areas including research and development, sales and marketing, and drilling chemistry. Many of the laboratory techniques that he has developed, such as filter-plugging for WAT measurements, and the spectroscopic evaluation of asphaltene precipitation, are now widely used in the industry.
